Band of the Heavens

This transparent, glass ring has a blend of colors within, blues, teals, and golds, forever softly swirling, mixing, and separating again, all independent of any movement of the ring itself. While making preparations for the journey to the New World, your father passed this ring to you, saying only that he received it in lieu of substantial debt.

Over four hundred years ago, a tiny meteor fell from the heavens, crashing down directly upon the tower of the Grand Astrologer Hewlet Gorthan, and left the once opulent tower nothing but rubble. While none can truly say for certain, most believe that hiding behind the veneer of his Astrology was a heresy most vile, and such punishment was justice delivered upon him from The One. There was but a single object that survived the impact - the looking glass of the grand telescope. The meteor pierced through the glass, shattering the center, but fused the outer ring into a smooth band from the intense heat. To this day, the glass ring still contains a powerful magic, it's form adjusting to suit the bearer. For all the time that you have seen it, both when held by your father, and when donned by you, the colors in the ring occasionally swirl together, forming into a variety of shapes recognizable as holy symbols of The Spark, although the legends say that both gifts and symbols within will change by a new bearer's touch.

While worn, the Band of the Heavens empowers the bearer with a powerful connection to the Aspect they connect most closely to. It provides a constant comforting presence to the bearer, and upon your hand, bestows the following gifts from your connection to The Spark.

Spell Echo: Once per day, when you cast a spell or hex, you may trigger Spell Echo. If you do so, at the beginning of your next turn, the spell repeats. It is cast again from the ring's location, and you may choose the same or new targets. Any target of the original spell is a valid option for the Spell Echo, regardless of range or targeting restraints. The Spell Echo is powered by a fragment of your memory, and this is able to be used even if you are incapacitated or otherwise unaware of your surroundings.

Might of The Spark: Your caster level is considered to be one higher for the purpose of spell effects, duration, and spell resistance.

Mirrored Mastery: Once per day, when you witness the casting of a spell by another, you may make a spell craft check based on the strength of the magic. If you succeed, you create a copy of the spell, using the original caster's statistics. You may choose new targets, and may measure distance either from yourself, or from the original caster.

Far Gaze: Once per day, you may cast Clairvoyance as a 20th level caster, choosing sight. At any point during the spell's duration, you may cast another spell or hex, measuring distance from the Clairvoyance sensor. Doing so sets the remaining duration of Clairvoyance to one round, and you may not cast another spell through the sensor.

Spark's Insight: You gain a +3 bonus on all skill checks to identify or research magical items, spells, or rituals.

Power Surge: You gain a single arcanist spell slot of a level 1 higher than the highest you can cast, with one known spell of that level. When you cast the spell, you will gain the fatigued condition as the overwhelming surge of power drains you. Once per week, during your daily preparation, you may change your one known spell to another arcanist spell.

Peer Deeper: Your father has told you that more power dwells deeper within the ring. At any point, you may tap into the depths of the ring. Your father has instructed you to only search deeper in the most dire of circumstances, for the spirit of Hewlet Gorthan is bound deep within the ring.
